276. Samuel TEED
was born in 1712 in Huntington, Long Island, New York. He emigrated @1783 from
Loyalist to Tiddsville, Digby Co. Nova Scotia. Samuel was a native of Duchess
County, New York. At the time of the peace, he was a soldier in the British garrison
at Oyster Bay, Long Island. He entered the British lines on March 21, 1777. His
claim for 155 pounds compensation for farming and household equipment and a set
of blacksmiths' tools, but not land.
The town of Tiddville on Digby Neck, NS was named after him.
aside: there is also a Samuel Tidd in Harpersfield, Deleware Co. New York State
in the 1790 census, with one male over 16 yrs of age (head of household), 5 males
under 16 yrs of age and 2 females, including the wife.
He was married to Anne or Elizabeth Loring on 10 Dec 1734 in First Christian,
Huntington, LI, NY.
