He was one of the first settlers of Boxford, Mass., where he was the first schoolmaster. He served as town clerk for 24 years, was selectman for many years and captain of the militia. He was made a freeman in 1674, and was a representative to the General Court 1689 and 1691. He was married to Hannah ANDREWS on 23 Nov 1665.
