David Melvin (b.1690 Charlestown, Mass, d. 1745 Concord, Mass.) was the son of John Melvin and Hannah Lewis (b. @1655 to John Lewis and Mary Brown).

Her mother Abigail Floyd (b. 1775 Chester) was the daughter of Thomas Floyd (b. 1734 to Simon Floyd; d.1791 Chester), and Mary Bradshaw (b. 1755). Mary was the daughter of Abraham Bradshaw (below) and Abigail Merriam (b. 1723 to Joseph Merriam and Mary Brewer, d. 1796 Chester).

Abraham Bradshaw was born in 1724 in Medford, Mass., married in 1747 in Woburn, Mass. and died in 1775 in Chester. He was the son of Jonathan Bradshaw (below) and Mary Watson, daughter of Abraham Watson (son of John Watson and Rebecca) and Mary Butterfield.

Jonathan Bradshaw was born in 1696 in Medford, Mass. and married in 1722. He was the son of John Bradshaw (below) and Mary (b. 1666, d. 1756).

John Bradshaw was born in 1655 and died in 1745. He was the son of Humphrey Bradshaw (m. 1665, d. 1682) and Martha.

bullet Lt. Robert MELVIN was born on 9 Nov 1716 in Concord, Massachusetts. He signed a will on 27 Dec 1773 in Will Book 1 - page 096 24 Jul 1787. He died on 24 Jul 1787 in Chester, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. He was a lieutenant in his father's company (4th Massachusetts militia) in the colonial wars with the French. He arrived in Chester, NS on 4 Aug 1759 from Boston, MA accompanied by Rev. John Seccombe and his family. He was a widower at that time. In his diary, Rev. Seccombe recorded that their party of settlers left Boston. Mass. on Thursday, July 30m 1759 at nearly noon and arrived at Chester on the following Tuesday. On August 14, Seccombe, Melvin and others went "to view the eastern bay, etc." And Secombe noted on September 7, "Mr Melvin and Mr Houghton (ie Capt. Timothy Houghton) caught a salmon in Middle River with their hands."

The name of his first wife was Sarah, and they had a son, Eleazer and probably other children as well.. He returned to Concord, MA in 1762, at which time he married his second wife, Phoebe. He then came back to Nova Scotia and he and Phoebe had eight children, whose births are recorded in the Chester Town Records online. He settled on the famed Oak Island, and on the map that we have the land is later registered in his son David's name. Parents: Capt. David MELVIN and Mary FARRAR.

However, the list of children is Elizabeth 18 Jun 1721, Elizabeth, rather than our Abigail, 28 Oct 1722, Robert 11 Oct 1725, Mary 23 Jun 1728, Beulah 2 Aug 1730, Joseph 23 Jul 1732 and Sarah 5 Jan 1734, all b. Lexington.
